Owen Chamberlain (born in San Francisco, July 10, 1920 - 28 Februari2006 died at the age of 85 years) is an American physicist, known for his invention, antiprotons, while working with Emilio Segre. Both received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1959 for services they are in the discovery.
He studied physics at Dartmouth College and the University of California at Berkeley. SaatPerang World War II broke out, he joined the Manhattan Project in 1942, where he worked with Segre, both at Berkeley and at Los Alamos, New Mexico. After the war, in 1946 he went on duty doctorate with legendary physicist, Enrico Fermi. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in tahun1949.
He returned to Berkeley as a faculty member and to investigate the spread of proton-proton (proton-proton scattering) with Segre. In 1955, a series of experiments resulted in the discovery of the antiproton proton deployment, exactly particles such as protons but have a negative flow.
Chamberlain was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1985, and retired to teach four years later. He died on February 28, 2006 at the age of 85 years.
